Innovation in healthcare also causes changes to the traditional medico-legal concepts that are the backbones of the healthcare systems. Concepts such as patient rights, medical liability and competence to act (who may do what) will need to be revised and new concepts need to be added, such as for decision support and health-robotics.

In this presentation we will explore some of the current medico-legal concepts and explain how we can make them evolve so that they are fit as sufficient legal framework in an innovative healthcare system. We will also explore some necessary medico-legal requirements for new concepts.
