Since 2016, Axel has been the Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC Belgium, a network firm with +300 million euro in revenues and about 2.400 employees. Before assuming his current position, he was in charge of the firm’s Belgian Tax and Legal practice, a position he combined with heading up PwC’s EMEA Tax and Legal network. In addition to his leadership position, Axel remains active as a client partner within the Belgian firm. Furthermore, he is a member of the PwC Europe Board.
Having started his career over 30 years ago at PwC’s predecessor firm Coopers & Lybrand, Axel developed significant experience in international tax planning, serving clients in this area across the network, having assumed various teaching positions in his field as well as having (co) authored a wide range of global publications.
Throughout his career, Axel has supported a significant number of companies from Strategy through Execution, helping them develop, implement and maintain sustainable global tax strategies, particularly in the areas of holding and financing and intellectual property planning, always ensuring appropriate substance is put in place.
A lawyer by training with additional degrees in taxation, accounting and finance, Axel is a chartered tax consultant and a member of the International Fiscal Association.
